Operations

At Empire, we believe that providing exceptional customer satisfaction comes from a commitment to operational excellence.

Senior Staff & Team Members

We have created a program that offers a range of benefits and incentives for our staff. This program is designed to motivate and reward employees for their talents, experience, dedication, and technological expertise. It is continuously updated, as we actively seek new opportunities. Key employees involved include Area Managers, Team Leaders, Site Supervisors, Day Matrons, Day Porters, Light Duty Cleaners, Heavy Duty Cleaners and Tradesmen.

Our on-site representation is a valuable asset to our client relationships. Staff members are uniformly dressed and trained to maintain proper grooming and personal hygiene. Empire provides all employees with uniform shirts featuring the company logo, along with company approved pants. All team members are also trained to abide with our client’s policies and safety procedures when reporting on-site.

We have introduced Monday.com into Empire Facility Management’s daily operations. Monday work management allows our team to focus on executing tasks, projects, and processes efficiently and achieved shared goals at scale.

Our team uses Monday for client projects, task, portfolio and resource management as well as business operations, goals and strategies, client requests and approvals and equipment repair and maintenance.

Management & Staff Training

As new employees join the Empire team, they undergo an orientation that includes an employee handbook, health and safety guidelines, and comprehensive training for certifications.

The employee handbook greets new hires and outlines Empire's policies. It also reviews the specific responsibilities of each employee, fostering communication and laying the groundwork for a long-term relationship.

We offer a variety of resources for ongoing training. For instance, our “Safe Start Booklet” highlights our commitment to promoting health and safety within the organization.

To stay current in a constantly evolving industry, all employees are required to complete an annual training seminar. This training covers various topics, including occupational health and safety, contractor compliance, and legislative updates.

We require all in house and on-site training to be performed by a certified trainer or organization to ensure that all personnel receive the proper credentials.

Our comprehensive training program reviews the following:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Emergency Procedures

  • Leadership

  • Blood and Body Fluid Borne Pathogens

  • Safe Lifting

  • Due Diligence

  • Safe Operating Procedures

  • Hazard Reporting

  • Incident/Accident Investigations (as applicable)

  • Workplace Inspections

  • Legislated Rights and Responsibilities of all workers (annually)

  • Scissor Lift (as applicable)

  • Fall Protection (as applicable)

  • Sharps

  • Working at Heights (as applicable)

  • Fit Test for respirator masks

  • WHMIS

All Empire employees undergo both generic and site-specific WHMIS training during orientation, along with an annual review whenever new regulations are introduced. The training program is evaluated more frequently if workplace conditions change or new information about a hazardous product emerges. Additional WHMIS information is provided to employees in the janitorial rooms.

Health & Safety

Empire Facility Management has a dedicated Joint Health and Safety Committee that meets each month to identify workplace hazards, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with Empire’s safety program and legal standards, all aimed at fostering a safer work environment for employees.

During on-site inspections, our Quality Assurance Manager creates a thorough report that details any deficiencies in the scope of work as well as potential health and safety risks.

We provide training for certification and re-certification for first aid in compliance with Regulation 1101 of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board for all group leaders and area managers.
